Wake The Gods

Privacy Policy

Effective October 15, 2026

This policy explains what personal information Wake The Gods collects through wakethegods.net and our email list, why we collect it, who helps us handle it, and the choices you have. We keep it short on purpose. If anything here is unclear, contact us.

Who we are

Wake The Gods is a band based in New York, USA. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us through our contact form.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Email address, when you sign up for release news on our site.
  • Your name, email address and message, when you contact us through our contact form, and anything else you choose to send us.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, our tools collect technical information such as your IP address, approximate location based on that IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, and the date and time of your visit. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described below.

Information from others

Pre-save links take you to DistroKid’s HyperFollow pages. DistroKid and the streaming service you connect (such as Spotify or Apple Music) handle that pre-save under their own privacy policies. If DistroKid ever shares fan information with us, for example an email address you chose to give on a HyperFollow page, we treat it under this policy.

How we use it

  • To email you about new music, release dates, pre-saves, shows and other band news you asked to hear about.
  • To understand how people find and use the site, so we can improve it.
  • To keep the site and our signup form secure and free of spam and abuse.
  • To answer messages you send us.
  • To comply with the law and protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

Legal bases for processing (EU and UK visitors)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on these legal bases under the GDPR and UK GDPR:

  • Legitimate interests, to send you the band news you signed up for, to run and secure the site, and to measure how it is used. You can object at any time, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.
  • Consent, for non-essential cookies and analytics, where the law requires it. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation, where we must keep or disclose information to comply with the law.

Who helps us

We use a small number of service providers that process information on our behalf:

  • HubSpot (USA): signup forms, our email list and email sending, and website analytics.
  • Google (USA): reCAPTCHA on our signup form to block spam, and Google Analytics if and when we enable it. reCAPTCHA is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab) and Terms of Service (opens in a new tab).
  • 10Web: website hosting.
  • Cloudflare (USA): domain name services and network security.
  • jsDelivr: delivery of a code library the site uses to display pages.
  • DistroKid (USA): pre-save and release links. DistroKid acts under its own privacy policy when you use its pages.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a transfer of the band’s assets.

International transfers

We are based in the United States, and our providers mainly store data there. When information about people in the EEA or UK is transferred to the US, we rely on safeguards our providers offer, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension, or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Email list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. After you unsubscribe, we keep only what we need to make sure we do not email you again.
  • Analytics data: for as long as our analytics providers retain it under their settings, generally no more than 26 months.
  • Messages you send us: as long as needed to respond and keep a reasonable record.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use them to measure site traffic and to protect our signup form. Where the law requires consent, we ask for it before setting non-essential cookies. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some features may not.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections to our site and trusted providers. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site and our tools change. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and if a change is significant, we will tell subscribers by email.
